Definition

Compares a student's score to a national sample of same-grade students. An NPR of 90 means the student scored as well as or better than 90% of students nationally. Most gifted programs require NPR 90+ on Core Composite.

Definition

Expresses a score as the grade and month for which that score is typical. A GE of 5.4 means the student performs like an average student in the 4th month of 5th grade. GEs can be misleading for gifted students — a 3rd grader with GE 7.2 didn't learn 7th grade content; they excel at 3rd-grade content.

A consistent scale (roughly 100–400 increasing by grade) used to track growth over time. More reliable for year-to-year growth comparisons than NPR or GE, which can fluctuate based on the norming cohort.
